JOÃO DIOGO FERREIRA

The balance that HIPRA Portugal makes of the commercialization of the new DIVENCE vaccine range, at the end of one year since its launch, is frankly very positive.

Following the testimonials we have heard regarding the on-farm use of this vaccine range, we now present the opinion of João Diogo Ferreira, from the beef cattle sector, responsible for the AGRIANGUS farm located in Tomar. AGRIANGUS is a company dedicated to breeding purebred Aberdeen Angus cattle and is recognized for maintaining high standards of innovation and excellence, which are reflected in the product they bring to market. According to this manager, the fundamental pillars that define them are genetics, health, innovation, and efficiency.

AGRIANGUS is a pioneer in the implementation of advanced technology, being the only privately owned farm with a feed efficiency testing station. It is a global benchmark, allowing the positioning of its animals on the world stage.

What additional benefit does DIVENCE provide that led you to start using it?

The main added value that led us to choose DIVENCE was the possibility of simultaneously protecting against IBR and BVDV types 1 and 2 with a single vaccine, drastically reducing the complexity of vaccination programs. The fact that it is the first marker multivalent vaccine ensures differentiation between vaccinated and infected animals, representing a decisive technical advance, both from a health and an economic standpoint.

How has DIVENCE changed the management of vaccination plans on your farm?

The introduction of DIVENCE simplified the management of vaccination plans. We now have a single vaccine for five pathogens, which has reduced the number of applications and facilitated handling.

What future possibilities do you foresee now that you are using the first marker multivalent vaccine against IBR and BVDV (types 1 and 2)?

The use of a marker multivalent vaccine could eventually open the door to health certification without compromising epidemiological surveillance. It also enables the implementation of control and eradication programs in an effective, traceable, and sustainable way, with direct benefits in animal value, export opportunities, and the sanitary responsibility image of farms. Furthermore, it strengthens our preventive response capacity in the event of outbreaks, protecting genetic and reproductive investment.

What would you say, in a few sentences, to someone who is hesitating to implement/recommend DIVENCE to their clients (farms)?

I would say that DIVENCE represents the state of the art in bovine reproductive vaccination. It is effective, safe, easy to implement, and provides comprehensive protection with fewer applications. In the era we live in, having a simple, robust program backed by technical support such as HIPRA’s makes all the difference. For me, it is a logical and strategic choice!
